The blue phone icon next to a contact's number in your CRM is the dial icon from the Project Blue Chrome extension. It isn't a GoHighLevel button. By default it uses Smart dial, which picks the best way to call each contact. If your account has a FaceTime Audio line, that can mean the icon starts a FaceTime Audio call instead of a regular Dialer call.
How Smart dial works
The contact is on iMessage: the icon starts a FaceTime Audio call.
The contact is on SMS: the icon starts a regular Dialer call.
The number is new to Project Blue: Project Blue checks whether the number can use iMessage, then picks FaceTime Audio or the Dialer.
If the FaceTime Audio call is declined or fails within 15 seconds, the call switches to the regular Dialer. If the contact doesn't answer, or the call goes to voicemail, it doesn't switch.
Smart dial only applies when your account has a FaceTime-enabled line. That's why the icon may have started placing FaceTime Audio calls after a line got FaceTime Audio. Smart dial is on by default.
Always use the regular Dialer
In the Project Blue web app, go to Settings > Dialer & FaceTime.
At the top of the page, turn off Smart dial.
With Smart dial off, the blue phone icon starts a regular Dialer call every time. The separate FaceTime Audio button still works when you want to place a FaceTime Audio call yourself.
The extension option Show dialer icon only hides or shows the icon. It doesn't change which kind of call the icon places. To change that, use the Smart dial setting above.
If Smart dial is already off and the icon still starts a FaceTime Audio call, contact Project Blue support.
